David Flanders, MSW, CSW
Therapy can help you understand your emotions, break unhelpful patterns, and build practical skills for navigating life with greater balance and confidence.
WHAT BRINGS YOU HERE
Sometimes the hardest part is understanding why you feel stuck. Anxiety, low mood, intense emotions, relationship struggles, or major life changes can make everyday life feel overwhelming.
Anxiety can leave you caught in cycles of worry, overthinking, or fear. When it begins affecting your relationships, sleep, decisions, or ability to enjoy everyday life, it may be time to explore what’s underneath it.
Depression can affect your energy, motivation, relationships, and sense of connection to the things that once mattered to you. You may feel stuck, disconnected, or simply unlike yourself.
Strong emotions can sometimes feel overwhelming or difficult to understand. You may find yourself reacting before you have time to process what you’re feeling or consider how you want to respond.
Relationships can become difficult when communication breaks down, conflict keeps repeating, or emotions get in the way. Understanding your own patterns can be an important step toward healthier connections.
When emotions rise quickly, it can be difficult to pause before reacting. Anger or impulsive responses may affect your relationships and leave you wishing you had handled a situation differently.
Changes in relationships, work, family, or other areas of life can bring uncertainty and emotional stress. Even positive changes can feel difficult when you’re trying to find your footing in a new chapter.
THE PATH FORWARD
Therapy isn’t about changing who you are. It’s about understanding your patterns, building practical skills, and creating more choice in how you respond.
Learn to recognize your emotions, understand what they may be communicating, and make sense of the patterns behind them.
Develop practical strategies for managing difficult emotions, handling stress, and navigating challenging situations more effectively.
Create more space between what you feel and how you respond, giving you greater control over your choices and actions.
Build healthier communication habits, manage conflict more effectively, and develop stronger relationship patterns.
Learn skills for tolerating distress and getting through challenging moments without making things harder.
Use greater self-awareness and practical tools to make intentional choices and move toward the life you want.
A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO THERAPY
Therapy is more than talking about what’s difficult. It’s an opportunity to understand your patterns, develop practical skills, and build greater confidence in navigating emotions, relationships, and everyday challenges.
Understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and the patterns that influence them.
Develop practical skills you can use outside of therapy—not just insights that stay in the session.
Build greater emotional awareness, resilience, and confidence as you apply those skills in everyday life.
Anxiety and Depression both served a purpose for our survival in the past. It is when they block our current progression that they become a problem. Once we not only understand their purpose, but how to work with them, we are better able to manage our emotions. I will help you learn to make sense of your emotions so that you can start to feel like yourself again.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Starting therapy can come with questions. Here are some common things you may want to know about the process, sessions, and what to expect.
The first session is a chance to talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’re experiencing, and what you hope to work on. We’ll begin getting to know each other and identify areas where therapy may be helpful.
Not at all. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Together, we can explore what you’re experiencing and identify where to begin.
Yes. David offers therapy both in person and online, providing flexibility based on your needs and preferences.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an approach that teaches practical skills for managing emotions, tolerating distress, improving relationships, and developing greater mindfulness. These skills can be useful in everyday situations, not only during difficult moments.
The frequency of sessions depends on your individual needs, goals, and circumstances. Your treatment plan can be discussed together as you begin therapy.
Individual sessions are $95 per session. A free 15-minute consultation is also available before beginning therapy.
Yes. David accepts a range of insurance plans, including SelectHealth, Regence, UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare, TRICARE, and others. Coverage varies by plan, so it’s recommended that you verify your benefits before starting treatment.
In-person sessions are available at Life Matters Counseling & Psychological Services, located at 1433 North 1075 West, Suite 120, Farmington, UT 84025. Online sessions are also available.
That’s completely okay. The free 15-minute consultation gives you an opportunity to share what you’re looking for, ask questions, and determine whether David’s approach feels like a good fit.
